GOSH foundation drops

So Halloween has come and gone, and it’s left me with terrible skin! I went a little overboard with the candy and when that happens I get the lovely mix of hormonal acne mixed with genetic acne, mixed with ‘you just ate a pile of sugar acne’ acne. This has left me with skin that resembles the kids in the movie ‘Cooties’, (which I have not seen, but the trailer had me empathising with the kids, even as they were chowing down on someone’s face)

You see? You ever had a day like this?

You see? You ever had a day like this?

And yet I never learn. Right now I’ve got a packet of love hearts next to me and I’m damn well gonna eat them.

To make things more difficult for myself I’ve decided that I’m only going to use cruelty-free makeup and skin care brands. This was…tricky at first, but once you get searching there are a decent amount of brands that don’t test on animals. One of them is the brand GOSH. Spotting it in my local drug store I decided to have a peek around, and I am so glad I did. I found a secret weapon hidden beneath the mascaras and highlighters.

The weapon is called Foundation drops. Actually, it’s called #FoundationDrops but I’ll forgive it for that.

At first glance, it looks like a typical commercial trick. Put foundation in a pipette bottle and put a hashtag in front of the name – it’ll appeal to the kiddies and the scientists! I wasn’t sure about getting it until I saw that it had argon oil in it. Now argon oil has been hyped up so much that it’s hard to actually know if it’s good or not. I would say it all depends on your skin and hair type. Personally, argon oil has done nothing special for my hair, but it’s been pretty nice to my skin, and I use it every month or so to give it a treat (this is when it’s not infected with Halloween candy). I hadn’t seen a foundation with argon oil in before so I decided to give it a try.

And then afterwards I threw all my other foundations away (yep, all one of them). This is some gooood stuff. You have to shake the bottle a little bit before you use the product to mix everything together, which I find enjoyable because I’m a boring person. Then you put it on however you put on your foundation. I’m a beauty blender kinda gal so I use that, and man, you need the tiniest amount of this stuff. It blends in so easily and so smoothly, and for such a thin consistency it covers amazingly well. I needed one thin layer and my skin looked great and had the added bonus of not being weighed down with product.

The only thing that I don’t like about this line of foundations is that the shades are all very light, and if you’ve got skin that’s darker than mine…which is probably a lot of you, you wouldn’t be able to wear any of them. Some brands still have a long way to go when it comes representing all skin colours, but this is a new product so perhaps they’ll release more shades later on.

I should also point out that if you have very dry skin this won’t be enough to take care of it on its own. My skin tends to be more oily than dry though so it was the perfect consistency for me.

For a drug store brand, I’m really impressed, and I think I’ll be using this for a long time. If you’re finding your foundation is too drying for the winter weather, but you still need something with high coverage, give this a go. Paired with the right primer it’ll get rid of cootie face and leave you feeling sparkly.
